The vision of the Food Action Team (FAT!) is that Corvallis will be a community sustained primarily by locally produced food using practices that renew and enrich the land and community.  We have three sub-groups working on three diverse projects aimed at bringing our current food system closer to this vision.

Increasing Demand for Locally Grown Foods: The first subgroup has created an ad campaign, the Local 6 Connection, which will allow consumers to identify locally produced foods in restaurants, institutions and retail stores. The Local 6 Connection was introduced at the First Alternative Co-op in 2006 and has since been adopted by the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition. Currently there are a a dozen restaurants participating. In addition, it is a part of the Farm- to-School Program and in use by local farmers! Read More.

  • Home Food Production:  The third subgroup is exploring how home food production can be enhanced by neighborhood groups which get together to share produce, tools, expertise and community.  They are conducting a survey across the community at events and on-line.  Whether you have never gardened, or devote your yard to raised beds, they'd love to have your input: click Here to participate
